Like the Eiffel Tower precisely a century prior, the Louvre Pyramid caused public outrage upon its completion in 1989. Our species tends to fear the new, the different, the unknown - anything that signifies change or a shift of the status quo. I love this shot (and the overall decision to place a modernistic glass pyramid smack in front of The Louvre), for its fabulous juxtaposition of the traditional and the modern. The sacrilegiousness, audacity, and daring of this architectural risk is a fantastic reminder for us all to not fear to innovate, to be bold, to be different, regardless of what anyone may think.
