This one started as a quick photo I snapped through a taxi window while speeding through the streets of downtown Chicago on a work trip. The woman on the crosswalk reminds me of the Beatles’ “Abbey Road” album cover, and I love how her bright yellow bag adds a pop of joyful color among the grayness of the concrete jungle behind her. To me, the bag is a rebellion against the ordinary, the mundane, the expected - a determined effort to keep one’s unique light burning brightly in a world that tries so badly to make us fit in.
