Another one of my favorite shots, I especially love the vibrancy of the colors and the elegant symmetry of the fire escapes. The tenements of the Lower East Side of New York City, home to the huge influx of immigrants through the past two centuries, generally tend to have a rather dark historical connotation. What I love about photography is that it allows me to take something like that and give it new life, reimagine it, rewrite its story, and give it a second chance, and this shot is a perfect representation of that in action.
